DIY activities with Kids - Makar Sakranti Special
Makar Sankranti, also known as the Kite Festival, is a popular Hindu festival that is celebrated all over India. It marks the beginning of the sun's northward journey, and is typically observed by flying kites, performing rituals, and participating in other cultural activities. If you're looking for some fun and simple DIY Makar Sankranti activities for kids, here are a few ideas to get you started:
-
Create a DIY Kite Flying activity:
A simple activity 2 minute setup for a good 15 minute fun. For this, we need some cotton balls, glue, blue color, brush, colored paper cut in triangle shape (different sizes to match the kite drawings), strings and a piece of paper. Draw some clouds on paper and sit with your little one to make this beautiful piece of art. We used cotton balls as clouds, stuck paper triangles to make kites, decorated those with stickers and colored the paper blue to depict sky 😊. Gives a perspective of size to kids, involves tactile activity with cotton balls, craft activity of decorating kites, pasting strings and paper and a lot of learning on Indian culture.
- Create colorful rangoli designs: Rangoli is a traditional Indian art form which is an important part of our festive celebrations, it is considered to bring good luck, prosperity and positive energy to home .
